Customer Reviews:
Another magical book by Meg
I was actually surprised that this book didnt have a review. So, since Meg is one of my favorite authors and this book was great.
Jean is a very likable character like all of Cabots female lead characters.
The book is about Jean, she just moved from her quiet town to the city life. she believes that bad luck follows her around. the truth is more interesting than that. ...

the book is great and i totally recommend it, and yes i just said "totally", lol.
Meh..
I love most of Meg's books but this one was disappointing. The main character was not interesting, and so I was never interested in her story.
Not Meg Cabot's best
'Jinx' was kind of weird and seemed really thrown together.
I couldn't find any real plot to the book and the climax was...anti-climatic. Jean was a very confusing character and she went from believing in magic one minute and then all of a sudden not believing. It seemed like magic was just thrown in to make the novel more interesting but it didn't work...it just made it confusing.

Also, it seemed like magic was supposed to be a big factor in the story but it ended up not being a factor because almost none of the things Tory did to Jinx involved magic. It seemed like the book was setting up for this big face-off between Jinx and Tory where they both use magic to battle each other but it never happened. Neither of the girls used magic at the end.

The ending was pretty weird...and that's about all I can say about it.

Overall, this book left me scratching my head...in fact I'm scratching my head right now trying to remember if there was anything I really liked about the book.
The most confusing book I've read in a while. I wouldn't have expected this from Meg Cabot.
witch/romance
OMG!!! Do you know how much this book rocked!!!

The book Jinx is all about a girl named Jean. She orriginally lived in Iowa and moved for the semester and the summer in with her mothers siter, or her cousins family. Her relatives live in New York, which is a long way away form Iowa if you had a map.

In this "loving" family are three kids: Tory, Ted, and Alice.

The first day things seem to be turning for Jean. She med Tory's friends: Robert, Shawn, Chanelle, Tiffany, Gretchen, and Zach.

She is totally attracted to Zach, who seems to be one year older than everyone there including her. Than she notices that Zach's the one that her cousin, Tory is after. She immediately backs off and says they are only friends.

This story comes in contact with the horrid witchcraft that we all know and love. Romance of two human beings (duh!), and of couse what novel of Meg Cabot's wouldn't be complete without a little drug usage.

I thought this book was the best book i've read all summer!!,
and believe me i read ALOT over the summer!

I really hope you enjoy "Jinx" by Meg Cabot.

Enjoy
~Lainy~
ps. Omg i just <3 witchcraft and the things you can do with it. Every imagine you were a witch. The wizards of Waverly place that's what i always image i would be. its so cool

Mediocre but Cute
Jean Honeychurch has been nicknamed Jinx, and not without good reason. From the moment of her birth, bad luck and misfortune has followed her everywhere. Jean is relieved that she's moving to New York City to live with her aunt and uncle, because maybe then she can have a new start. But unfortunately for Jean, bad luck can't be shaken off by fleeing halfway across the country, some people will stop at nothing to get revenge, and secrets are meant to be discovered. Jean is going to have to learn to embrace her gift if she's ever going to survive life in NYC.

I found Jinx to be a cute story even though it was flawed. Firstly, Jean's character was a little confusing at some times. The way she talked about her oh-so-dreaded secret from her hometown made it seem like it was something extremely incriminating, but when that secret was revealed, I didn't find it to be that horrible. Strangely, my favorite aspect of this novel was Jean's cousin Tory's diabolical character. It kept some surprises and twists in the plot. I actually liked her (in a way) much better than Jean, who just seemed a little too trusting and quick to dismiss that certain boys might actually like her. All this together made for a mildly amusing story.

I won't say Jinx was my favorite of Meg Cabot's books, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. If you like books about witchcraft or are a die-hard Meg Cabot fan, then you should read Jinx.

Editorial Reviews:

The only thing Jean Honeychurch hates more than her boring name (not Jean Marie, or Jeanette, just . . . Jean) is her all-too-appropriate nickname, Jinx. Misfor-tune seems to follow her everywhere she goes—which is why she's thrilled to be moving in with her aunt and uncle in New York City. Maybe when she's halfway across the country, Jinx can finally outrun her bad luck. Or at least escape the havoc she's caused back in her small hometown.

But trouble has definitely followed Jinx to New York. And it's causing big problems for her cousin Tory, who is not happy to have the family black sheep around. Beautiful, glamorous Tory is hiding a dangerous secret—one that she's sure Jinx is going to reveal.

Jinx is beginning to realize it isn't just bad luck she's been running from. It's something far more sinister . . . and the curse Jinx has lived under since the day she was born might just be the only thing that can save her life.
